New. 2024 build. Daniel Lukes luthier from South London, UK presents ‘The Garden-Bird Ukes’ - A trio of ukuleles, inspired by three charismatic British birds: the Robin, the Magpie and the Kingfisher.

‘The Magpie’, a corvid known for its intelligence and striking black, white and iridescent blue-green plumage. Black Fenland Bog Oak was the natural choice for the majority of this baritone; an excellent British tonewood found int he eastern Fens, where acidic peat-soil has preserved ancient forests of Oak, reaching with the tannins of the wood to turn them jet-black, and hardening the wood to rosewood-like levels. The Alpine spruce soundboard and sycamore neck impart a bright, lively response to a typically mellow instrument. This uke is strung in low-d tuning and features a comfort bevel on the upper bout, a generous scoop-cutaway and a side soundport.
